Get a Salon Blowout At Home - Tip of the Day!
We were lucky enough to score an interview with some lovely ladies, Nikki and Riawna, from the Ken Paves Salon in Hollywood. Between the two of them, they have tons of experience, an amazing knowledge bank on the topic, and a crazy client list to boot (think Lindsay Lohan, Colin Farrell, and Eva Longoria). So I rolled what we got from these two into a week's worth of tips so you can look like you just walked out of the Ken Paves Salon.

How many times have you had a salon blowout that made your day, only to find that the next day, you couldn't achieve the same look? Yeah, me too. But after speaking with Nikki and Riawna, I took the bull by the horns. Err, my hair by the brush, and got to work. Voila! A gorgeous blowout that looked like nothing I'd ever achieved before. So what brilliant advice did Nikki and Riawna give that had me looking flawless?

Here are the easy steps the girls use to get red carpet worthy blowouts.

1. Put leave in conditioner and some styling lotion on damp hair. (Both Nikki and Riawna repeatedly mentioned Unite 7 Seconds products as favorites).

2. Remove 80% of moisture by rough drying with a towel.

3. Section hair off into medium segments and blow section by section.

4. For bounce and volume, once a section is complete, set it with a Velcro roller or a pincurl to cool. "Make sure hair is 100% dry or the Velcro roller just won't work," says Riawna.

5. When hair is completely cooled, brush softly with a Mason Pearson brush.

For extra volume, Nikki also suggested a volumizing mousse or spray which "is more ideal than lotion." She also said that "mousse is key because it controls and smooths hair." But most people don't use the correct dosage, either using too much or too little, so Nikki suggests "practicing how much you use," and seeing the difference in your blowouts to get your perfect amount.

Get Gisele's Hair - Tip of the Day!

We're pretty sure nearly every woman has dreamed of having Gisele's long golden mane of tousled hair. So sexy! And, surprisingly, so easy too! Here's what Nikki and Riawna had to say about getting Gisele's beachy look without styling tools.

Nikki says getting Gisele's beachy look is easy with these simple steps:

1. Towel dry hair and put on 7 Seconds Leave On Conditioner and a curl cream.

2. Use twisties in medium to large sections (find out what "twisties" are here if you don't know) for smoothing curls.

3. Let that dry or use a diffuser. If you diffuse, try not to touch hair and no scrunching! It's best to let it air dry.

4. Break up the hair and then you will have that soft wave.

5. Then use Ken Paves Shine Drops at the end. You can use as much as you want and it doesn't get greasy. I use it like three times a day!

For a little more polish, Riawna suggests taking a 1 ¼ inch curling iron and wrapping large sections around it. "This gives a little more polish but still has a rumpled look." But just wrap the hair and "don't even open the clamp," she warns. "It will give hair kinks."

mqnq Get excited for this winter’s biggest trend-

Get excited for this winter's biggest trend: Gray and bright!
You know all those bright accents you wore this summer? Bright with white was huge, and good news: you can still wear those brights, just pair them with gray. Gray, grey, however you want to spell it, it's in. For example, pair a bright top with the gray suit you see here from Banana Republic. Men, this tip goes for you, too.

Gray with bright colors is massive this winter. It's almost a reflection of our economy; not too flashy, trying to be modest, but with a splash of enjoyment. It's fashion's way of celebrating style while remaining tastefully somber about the state of the stock market.

You can recycle quite a few items from last winter's jewel-tone bonanza; just throw on gray pants (or a skirt) and a gray blazer instead of blacks. The delightful advantage of gray over black is that you can mix grays to make a more dynamic, personalized effect--but please, avoid the heathers. We're not there yet.

Fall Fashion Week 2009: Backstage at Narciso Rodriguez

SHOW: Narciso RodriguezMAKEUP: Dick Page for Shiseido BEAUTY SNAPSHOT: Just-rolled out of bed glam

THE SCOOP: Michelle Obama favorite Narciso Rodriguez sent out a collection of straight, structured silhouettes in bold colors, which were complimented beautifully by conspicuously kohl-rimmed eyes "I want the girls to look like they're wearing leftover makeup, like they just took off their jeans and slipped on an evening outfit and went out," said makeup artist Dick Page. "You know, migrated makeup." He rimmed the upper and lower lids with black kohl liner, and created a smudgy look on the upper lids with a little grease. On the lips, there was a dab of gloss, and nothing else.

Fashion Innovators Discuss the Industry's Future

After the fittings, alterations, shows and presentations, countless interviews, and parties, nine of the top dogs in fashion came together to discuss the current and future state of the industry. Students from Parsons The New School of Design and The Fashion Institute of Technology (and a few lucky members of the press including StyleList) packed into Milk Studios on September 18 to pick the creative minds of Mazdack Rassi, co-founder and creative director of Milk Studios, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, co-founders of Opening Ceremony, designer Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler duo Jack McCollough and Lazarao Hernandez, and Simon Collins, dean of fashion at Parsons. Emceed by Estée Lauder's Group President John Demsey and moderated by Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune, the event was an intimate and candid conversation that included topics like the design process, the power of technology, and high-priced clothing. While the effects of the economic crisis are ever present, panelists offered inspiring messages to students on the importance of having passion and understanding that designers are brands themselves. "In my eyes, it isn't just always about being creative - getting involved in all aspects of the business I see as being just as important as designing the collection," said Alexander Wang. "The thing that most excite me is seeing someone I have no idea who they are or where they come from, but they're holding my handbag or have on my top...there's that certain kind of unspoken connection you feel that you've done your job - creating something that actually has legs and is walking into the real world."

Fall 2009 Fashion Week - Backstage at Preen
SHOW: PreenMAKEUP: James Kaliardos for MACHAIR: Paul HanlonBEAUTY SHAPSHOT: Modern Mod

THE SCOOP: The preening backstage at Preen may have been slighty 1960s-inspired, but the look was in no way outdated. MAC makeup artist James Kaliardos created a bold eye with heavy, black eyeshadow and a touch of white, and by lining the entire rim. The rest of the face remained relatively untouched. "We wanted to something graphic and strong," explained Kaliardos, a long-time Preen collaborator. Stylist Paul Hanlon said the hair was "super simple" and "slightly masculine." Sideswept fringe and glassy, straight ponytails dominated. (Hanlon mentioned "Quadrophenia," a 1980s film about 1960s London mods, as an inspiration.)

Fall 2009 Fashion Week - Backstage at Carolina Herrera
SHOW: Carolina Herrera

MAKEUP: Diane Kendal for MAC

HAIR: Orlando Pita for T3

BEAUTY SNAPSHOT: Simply romantic

THE SCOOP: The look at Carolina Herrera was in lock-step with the designer's classic approach to fashion. Ornately pinned buns -- studded with copper roses -- were juxtaposed with a minimalist, glowing face.

Dry conditioner was worked through the hair, which was pulled -- not slicked -- back. "The hair is up because there a lot of collars," said lead hair stylist Orlando Pita, the mastermind behind the show's pretty, modern take on the bun. "These little flowers were on the belts and the shoes."

Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury created a fresh, ethereal shimmer for the face. "Really it's just all the natural highlights, just enhancing the girls' natural beauty." To achieve the effect, concealer was blended onto the eyelids as a base and white, shimmery pigment was added to the eyes and cheekbones.

Fall 2009 Fashion Week - Backstage at Reem Acra
SHOW: Reem AcraMAKEUP: Polly Osmond for M.A.CHAIR: Bumble and BumbleBEAUTY SNAPSHOOT: Soft, glossy, goddess inspired.

THE SCOOP: The look at this red carpet favorite was, not surprisingly, red carpet ready. As lead makeup artist Polly Osmond said "The clothes are very elegant so we wanted to do a makeup look that was young to give it balance. It's goddess inspired but still very muted and soft in all dusky tones." To execute her vision, Osmond applied a taupe eyeshadow mixed with a cream color base in a slightly darker brown to give the eye depth and then a swiped gloss across the arch of the eye. On the face, Osmond applied a highlighter to the cheek and then a dab of gloss on the upper cheekbone. To finish off, concealer was applied to the lips to take down their color and then layered with a neutral shade of lipstick. To wear this off the runway Osmond says to remember "it's about using everything minimally and matting down the t-zone so you don't look shiny in the wrong places."

As for the lovely side swept hair, the experts with Bumble and Bumble said the look was created because the designer wanted something "finished and polished. What we're doing is very sophisticated and very red carpet but the low part gives it a modernity and frames the face in a graphic way." To get the look start by creating the side part while the hair is damp and then apply styling lotion before drying it flat. Next smooth the hair into a side ponytail. Instead of a twist the stylist suggests you create a loose braid and then pin it up. "It's much easier to shape and control a braid instead of a twist when you are working on your own hair and the results are very similar."

Eva Mendes for Seductive Comfort

Eva Mendes is the model and spokesperson for Calvin Klein's sexy new line, Seductive Comfort.

The line features a T-Shirt Bra, an Underwire Bra, and a Customized Lift Bra, and is specially designed to be comfortable for curvier women.

CK's researchers found that 75% of women who go bra shopping are looking, first and foremost, for something comfortable. That's why the bras are 25% spandex with microfiber and plush straps, and feature a cushion for the hook and eye in the back.

Read on for more information and our sexy gallery of Eva Mendes showing off how comfortable she is!

According to Calvin Klein representatives, most bra-makers make one cup size, like the B, to fit perfectly, then figure the other sizes mathematically. Not Seductive Comfort. Calvin Klein spent two years perfecting prototypes of each of the three new bras in each size.

The sizes range from 30 to 38, A-DD. Interesting fact: With the Customized Lift Bra, the amount of padding decreases as the cup size increases (a sneaky plot to make all breasts the same size).

All right, here it is, check out the gorgeous Eva Mendes in all her comfortable glory!
